Draw with Bechem feels like defeat – Liberty captain

Liberty Professionals’ quest for a first three points was dashed after giving away a goal to draw 1-1 to Bechem United at home on the opening day of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL).
Captain of the Scientific Soccer Lads, George Ansong found the opener in the 17th minute for the hosts who were bent on showing the class they once possessed.
Bechem United’s Stephen Owusu fetched the equalizer from the penalty spot in the 54th minute which left Ansong, the Liberty captain, ruing their missed chances.
“To me, I take it as a defeat because we wanted to win and we tried our best.
“They [Bechem United] are good and have this fighting spirit that made them equalize and their determination was higher.
“We just didn’t take our chances because we would like to score but on the other hand we just didn’t make good use of our chances,” Ansong said.
Liberty Professionals will travel to the Nduom Stadium to play Elmina Sharks for match-day two on Sunday, November 22.
