2020/21 GPL: 136 games for Live TV broadcast

Television right holders of the Ghana Premier League, Startimes, will broadcast 136 matches of the upcoming season.

The Ghanaian top-flight kicks off on November 14 with Aduana Stars against Hearts of Oak as the top-liner.

The broadcasting company plans to telecast five games per matchday with 8 cameras earmarked for every production.

Startimes Ghana Marketing Manager Akorta Banson made this known at the launch of the 2020.21 football season Thursday.

“On assumption of our role from 2016-2019, our coverage stood at 3 live games per week.

“When the 2020/21 season starts, Startimes will broadcast 5 live games per matchday.

“Startimes will broadcast 136 games this season and we have one Free-To-Air game for our partners Max TV.”

Akorfa also revealed Startimes will invest over $1.5 million in the league.

“We are investing over $1million in production and over $500,000 on promotion of the product.”

The Chinese-owned company released the TV schedule for the first five matchdays.

Matchday one provides viewers the opportunity to watch Aduana Stars against Hearts of Oak and the chance to watch Asamoah Gyan when Legon Cities face Berekum Chelsea.

Hearts game against AshantiGold on matchday 2 is the top-liner alongside Chelsea-Kotoko in Berekum.

Matchday 4 takes viewers to Tarkwa when Medeama play Asante Kotoko.

StarTimes’ big game on matchday 5 will see Legon Cities test their might against Kotoko, who failed to sign the Royals talisman Asamoah Gyan.
