We are solving Salisu’s “big issues” – Southampton boss

Southampton manager Ralph Hassenhuttl says the club is preparing defender Mohammed Salisu for his debut in the English Premier League.

The centre-back has not featured for the Saints since joining from Spanish side Real Valladolid last summer.

Hassenhuttl had earlier set Salisu’s start in late October but the Ghanaian footballer did not make the squad against Chelsea and Everton.

“Sali is still building up to join the team. He has been training since last week too but we have to be careful with him.

“There were some big issues we had with him and these stuffs will last a little longer,” Ralph told the team’s media.

Salisu’s return to the pitch is not imminent but the gaffer adds that his potential is also one for Southampton’s future.

“Maybe he might play in mid-November but we are giving him all the time he needs.

“It’s not a short-term project. He’s a good guy and I’m sure he will help us a lot.”

Southampton claimed a strong 2-0 victory against Everton on Sunday.
