Ghana’s Frank Acheampong continued his new-found scoring form with both goals as Tianjin Teda beat Dalian Pro 2-0 away in the Chinese Super League 5th-place playoffs Monday.
The winger’s brace was key to the Tianjin-based club’s relegation survival in the two-legged battle with Shenzhen in the past week.
Tianjin Teda travelled for the 5th place playoffs and captain Acheampong was on song once more with two first-half goals to give his side a healthy first-leg advantage.
The former Anderlecht man opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a forceful close-range finish.
Three minutes before half time break, defender Kaimu Zheng brilliantly sent Acheampong on a chase with a big boot pass and the 27-year-old did well to chase and finish the attack with a close-range effort past the Dalian keeper.
The second half was uneventful but it was visiting Tianjin Teda who left the Jinzhou Stadium Dalian with all smiles courtesy a 2-0 victory.
The return leg is scheduled for October 31.
