Patrick Yeboah ‘chickens out’ of Kotoko to seek game time

Defender claims demanding exit to prove he is not a bench warmer.

Asante Kotoko and Patrick Yeboah mutually agreed to terminate the remainder of their three-year contract.

The left-back joined Kotoko at the start of last season but is leaving due to lack of playing time under coach Maxwell Konadu.

Yeboah has explained the reasons for his departure.

“I do not have any problem with coach Maxwell Konadu and I cannot say he was unfair to me. There are certain things I cannot say on air but everyone who was present at our training grounds can attest to my performance, my training was even better than my performance during matches.

“The coach ould not cause financial loss to the club by keeping a player he’s brought on the bench hence playing Imoro Ibrahim over me.

“I perfectly agreed to his stance but coach Maxwell Konadu can attest to the fact that I was giving Ibrahim a tough opposition, my colleagues on many occasions told me I was better than Ibrahim and should have started games.

“I’ve decided to move on to prove to everyone that I am capable and fit to play than to be warming the bench.

“It’s not my will to leave the club, I am not happy at all but I have to take the challenge to prove to people that I am a better player who’s not giving enough time to prove my worth.

Both players featured for Karela United under current Kotoko assistant gaffer Johnson Smith.

Kotoko’s left-back slot had Abass Mohammed and Evans Owusu last season.

Owusu has also been released by the club.

Currently, Imoro Ibrahim will compete with Patrick Asmah who joined the Porcupines last Thursday.
