COVID-19: Liberty’s Kyei-Baffour ready to accept pay cut to fight pandemic

Liberty Professionals striker, Elvis Kyei-Baffour has said that he is ready to embrace a pay cut if the main purpose is to curb the novel COVID-19 disease.

Football activities have been frozen since the widespread of the pandemic globally. This has cut off revenue sources for clubs and football administrators as well as federations.

The situation has rendered most clubs cash-strapped. Many football pundits and administrators have therefore called for a cut in players’ salaries.

Speaking to Kumasi FM, Kyei-Baffour indicated that he would not hesitate to use part of his monthly salary to help fight the deadly disease.

“If our salaries will be slashed to push COVID-19 away, I will have no problem with it. I’m ever ready but if it is for any other reason, then it wouldn’t help us because our salaries are not even enough and as footballers,” he stated.

“We also have some responsibilities in our family to perform. If the pay cut is to purposely push COVID-19 away, I will welcome it,” Kyei-Baffour reiterated.

No Ghanaian club has come out with such arrangements with its players yet.
