2019/20 GPL: Berekum Chelsea add to Faisal woes with 4-2 win

King Faisal’s lengthy run without a win in the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League continued with a 4-2 defeat away to Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.

Berekum Chelsea were on the front foot from the first whistle and were soon rewarded for their positive start with the opening goal by Stephen Amankona after 13 minutes at Golden City Park.

Faisal, whose best result in the Premier League this season, has been five drawn games, replied with an Osman Ibrahim equalizer on 25 minutes – his 8th goal this campaign.

Amankona then scored his second to restore the lead in the minute ensuing the half-hour mark.

The second half had the Bibires score two more to make it 4-1 in the 51st and 64th minutes through returnees Jordan Opoku and Richard Kissi-Boateng respectively.

In a comeback attempt, Frimpong Boateng reduced the deficit to 4-2 on 66 minutes but King Faisal never looked like having the ability to complete it.

Berekum Chelsea, by the win, move joint-top with Aduana Stars on 23 points each while King Faisal’s seventh defeat in 12 games, has them rooted bottom of the 18-team league log with 5 points.
