2019/20 GPL: Hearts get back to winning ways at Dreams

Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways against Dreams FC on matchday 7 of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League at Dawu Park Sunday.

Kofi Kordzie’s 55th-minute strike granted the Phobians their second away triumph of the season. For Dreams, it is their second straight loss after a 2-1 away to Ebusua Dwarfs.

Hearts began the game with a bright performance, eager to recover from the last gasp defeat to Asante Kotoko in Accra last Sunday.

Great efforts from the Phobians never counted; Daniel Afriyie was denied by Dreams goalie Peter Sarkodie, Esso was denied by the woodwork as Hearts went into the break the better side.

After recess, the Rainbow Boys returned from the break with confidence, taking the deserving lead through Kofi Kordzi on the 55th minute. The forward controlled the ball in the 18-yard after a pass from Nettey and delivered a powerful strike to beat Peter Sarkodie in goal for Dreams.

Hearts held on to the end with strength in midfield despite the home side’s relentlessness to draw level.

The Phobians are 10th on the league table and will welcome Ashantigold SC on matchday 8.  Dreams, lying on eighth, will also visit Liberty Professionals at Dansoman.
