VIDEO: Jordan Ayew strikes again as Palace hold Arsenal

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew, on Saturday, became the first Crystal Palace player in 48 years to grab home and away Premier League goals against Arsenal.

The Eagles managed to hold 10-man Arsenal to a 1-1 draw after going down early in a lunchtime kickoff London derby at Selhurst Park.

Gabonese international and skipper of the Gunners, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struck the opener on 12 minutes but a VAR review of a poor tackle got the striker sent off later in the second half.

Ayew, who scored in a remarkable 2-2 comeback draw at Emirates back in October, once again took his turn to level matters in the second half.

The record-equaling strike arrived in the 54th minute when Ayew’s powerful shot deflected off the foot of David Luiz which helped the ball loop high and beyond Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno’s reach.

The last Crystal Palace player to score in both league meetings was John Craven who achieved the feat during the 1971/72 season.

The goal is also Jordan Ayew’s sixth in the 2019/20 Premier League. It sees him surpass senior brother Andre Ayew but two goals shy of Anthony Yeboah’s tally of 24 in the list of highest-scoring Ghanaians in Premier League history.
