Arsenal recall Eddie Nketiah from Leeds loan

Ghanaian-born England youth striker, Eddie Nketiah has announced he will return to Arsenal during the January transfer window after a loan spell with Championship side Leeds was cut short.

Nketiah started for just the second time in the Championship on New Year’s Day in Leeds draw with West Brom.

But he was withdrawn at half-time as manager Marcelo Bielsa introduced Patrick Bamford in his place.

Arsenal have been frustrated with his lack of game time and Nketiah announced he will return to north London this month.

Nketiah tweeted: “Unfortunately my time at Leeds has come to an end. It’s been an amazing experience and a privilege to play for such an amazing club.

“I would like to say a big thank you to my teammates, the coaching staff and the manager for making my time here an enjoyable one.

“Lastly, a big thank you to all the wonderful fans for taking to me so quickly. I wish the club all the best and I’m sure you’ll get to the promised land.”

Speaking after the draw with West Brom, Bielsa said: “It is a pity for us that he is leaving us because we were happy with him.

“He is a great player, an excellent professional and he had very good behaviour, he is a gentleman in every sense. We are grateful to him and also to his family and his club.”
