WAFA SC maintained their home superiority by beating Ebusua Dwarfs 2-0 on match-day two of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League at Sogakope Sunday afternoon.
After a feisty start to the showdown, the Academy lads controlled the game and opened the scoring in the 13th minute.
Eric Asamany slotted in from close range from a rebound after Justice Amate’s cross was not dealt with properly by the Dwarfs backline.
Prosper Ahiabu, who put up a man-of-the-match performance, nearly doubled WAFA’s lead but goalkeeper Razak Issah was up to the task.
After recess, WAFA continued to pile pressure on the visitors but squandered all the opportunities with Ahiabu being the worst culprit.
In the 80th minute, teenager Daniel Owusu came off the bench to score his first Ghana Premier League goal. He finished off a through pass from the middle which was over the head of defender Emmanuel Anarful.
WAFA have now picked up two wins in as many games while Dwarfs have suffered back-to-back defeats in the two-week-old league.
