2019/20 GPL: Dwarfs end dire start with win over Dreams

Ebusua Dwarfs managed to stop the rot by beating Dreams FC 2-1 for their first points in six matches of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

The Mysterious Club had been at the receiving end of defeats in their opening five games and were not fancied to come out victors against the Still Believe side at the Cape Coast Stadium Monday afternoon.

But new coach Ernest Thompson led Dwarfs to right the wrongs by taking a healthy two-goal lead before allowing the visitors a consolation late on in the game.

Seidu Abubakar unsettled Dreams with the opener as early as the fifth minute. He had four markers ball watching before leaving the goalkeeper rooted at his spot as he shot into rooftop.

Dwarfs made it 2-0 just after the hour mark through Albert Hammond who was assisted by Ismael Antwi.

Injury to goalkeeper during the game left centre referee allowing as much as 12-minute additional time after the 90. And Dreams, who still fancied their chances of a comeback, had Kingsley Owusu setting up substitute Kwame Out to pull one back. But that was all time would allow the two sides as the game ended 2-1 in favour of Dwarfs.
