REVEALED: French coach Romain Folz joins Berekum Chelsea

One-time Ghana Premier League champions Berekum Chelsea have engaged the services of Frenchman Romain Folz as new head coach ahead of the 2019/20 season, Footy-Ghana.com can reveal.

The Bordeaux-born young trainer is expected to arrive in the coming days to begin life with the Birbires.

Berekum Chelsea recently saw head coach Tony Lokko make a switch to Ghana Premier League rivals Inter Allies, prompting the need for his successor.

There’s quite little information on the new Berekum Chelsea coach but Footy-Ghana.com checks reveal that Folz most recently worked on a part-time basis with the Uganda national team.

Middle: Romain Folz and former Uganda coach Sebastien Desabre in Egypt for Afcon 2019

Early this year, he was co-opted by former Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre as video/performance analyst and was part of the backroom at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Romain Folz, who speaks fluent English, has also worked in the United States of America (USA) lower-tier with ISL League Two side West Virginia Chaos.

Meanwhile, Berekum Chelsea have been boosting their squad for the upcoming 2019/20 Ghana Premier League with the signings of Nasiru Osman (from Still Believe FC) and Gideon Oppong from Aduana Stars.

The new season kicks off the weekend of December 27-29.
