Jordan Ayew on mission to repay Palace faith

In-form Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew has revealed his determination to ‘pay back’ the club’s faith in him.

The 27-year-old struggled when he joined the Eagles on an initial loan last season, where he scored once in 14 Premier League outings. Despite the not convincing numbers, Palace signed him on permanently from Swansea this summer.

After scoring away to Manchester United last week, Ayew emerged the matchwinner for Crystal Palace as he netted against his old club Aston Villa to seal all three points for the Eagles on Saturday.

The Ghana international has now doubled his league tally from last year already and also for the first time scored before his home fans who kept singing his name at Selhurst Park.

Speaking post-match after the victory, Ayew explained:

“Since I came to this football club, the staff, Chairman, everyone are motivating me. So even if I had a difficult year last season, they still trust in me and they signed me this year.

“The thing I have to do is pay them back on the pitch and that’s what I try to do. I work hard every day and now it’s paying off. I hope it continues.

“It’s one step at a time and we’ll just continue. It’s the beginning of the season and we just keep on doing the basics right and get rewarded.”
