2019 African Games: Ghana make winning start against Burundi

Ghana’s male Under-20 football team, the Black Satellites defeated Burundi 2-1 in their opening fixture of the 2019 African Games in Morocco Saturday.

Medeama striker Tahiru Awudu grabbed both goals for coach Yaw Preko’s side at the Stade Municipal El Manssouria.

The 19-year-old put Ghana ahead in the 15th minute of the Group B opener.

The on-fire attacker registered his brace five minutes later to make it 2-0.

Burundi reduced the deficit on the stroke of halftime.

After recess, Satellites pushed forward in search of more goals but failed to utilize the chances created.

They looked sharp upfront with Tahiru and Kyei Baffour spearheading the attack.

Ghana will take on Senegal on Wednesday before they play Mali on August 24 in their last game.
