After his shock omission from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana’s outstanding Fifa referee Daniel Laryea has been mandated to officiate the Normalization Special Cup Tier-Two grand finale.
The 2019/20 Caf Confederation Cup ticket decider will have AshantiGold and Nzema Kotoko facing off at Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, June 30.
Laryea, who made history in the 2013/14 season as the youngest referee to officiate in the Ghana Premier League at age 24, will have Paul Atimaka from Aflao and Accra-based Class One referee, F.D. Ocansey as assistants.
Also, Sunyani-based Class One referee, Bashiru Dauda has been appointed fourth official of the Tier-Two final.
Not only is a Caf Confederation Cup ticket up for grabs, there is also a GH¢150,000 prize money for the ultimate winner. The runner-up also pockets GH¢80,000. Per tournament rules half of these amounts must be rewarded the playing bodies of the respective teams.
Asante Kotoko won the Tie-One competition by beating Karela United on penalties in Kumasi last Sunday, pocketed a GH¢200,000 prize money and will represent Ghana in the 2019/20 Caf Champions League.
