#NCSpecial: Karela take last semis ticket, meet AshGold

Karela United secured the last ticket to the semifinals of the Normalization Special Cup from Premier B after beating Ebusua Dwarfs 1-0.

A second half penalty by Charles Diawisie Taylor handed the Aiyinase-based side a needed victory at the CAM Park on Sunday.

The three points ensured Karela finished second behind Hearts of Oak, amassing 27 points from 14 games.

Liberty Professionals had to settle for third place despite defeating WAFA SC 2-0 at Carl Reindorf Park. Ernest Danso and Elvis Kyei Baffour strikes helped the Scientific Soccer Lads to finish the Premier B campaign with 25 points.

Karela, having advanced to the last four, will travel to face AshantiGold in the first semifinals clash at Len Clay Stadium on Wednesday, June 15.

In the other Premier B final games, Elmina Sharks ended on a winning note by pipping Inter Allies 1-0 while Dreams FC also defeated table-topping Hearts of Oak by same margin.

The top 4 teams from Premier B – Hearts, Karela, Liberty, Elmina Sharks – have also earned themselves slots in Round of 32 of the Tier 2 competition – that would determine Ghana’s representative for the 2019/20 Caf Confederation Cup. They would be joined by four teams from Premier A and 24 others from the Division One who advance from the group stages of the Tier 2 competition.
