Wafu B Women’s Cup: Black Queens draw hosts Cote d’Ivoire again

Ghana have, for the successive time, been drawn to face hosts Cote d’Ivoire in Group A of the 2019 West African Football Union (Wafu) Zone B Women’s Cup.

The Black Queens defeated the Ivorians to win the inaugural competition last year.

The official draw for the eight-nation competition was held at au Jardin du Rail du Plateau in Abidjan Tuesday morning.

And Ghana, who were not seeded despite being defending champions, also have cross border neighbours Togo as well as Senegal to contend with in the group.

Group B contains African champions Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali.

Cote d’Ivoire are hosting this zonal women’s Championship for the second time. It comes off May 8-18, 2019 with Stade Felix Houphouet-Boiney and Robert Champroux will host the 8-nation Championship as match centres.

Ghana’s Black Queens moved to camp on Monday to begin preparations towards their title defense. The team will be using the hostel and training facilities at the Cape Coast Stadium for the next three weeks before heading to Abidjan May 5.
