#NCSpecial: Bechem held at home by AshGold

Bechem United and AshantiGold played out a goalless draw in the former’s first game in the Ghana FA Normalization Committee Special Competition on Wednesday.

The impressive Miners, on the back of last Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Eleven Wonders, entered the game as overwhelming favourites at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.

Bechem looked jittery in the early stage of the encounter, struggling to put few passes together.

The trio of Akaminko, McCarthy and Ella Djodi seized the midfield with their telepathic understanding. They dictated the pace, leaving the home side chased their shadows.

Despite the dominance, AshantiGold failed to break the deadlock as they squandered the plethora of chances that fell their way.

After a goalless first half, the Hunters improved and cane into the game stronger, stringing some short passes together.

However, the home fans were not enthused with the officiating as the game went on.

AshGold fought hard to secure their second win in the competition but were not able to break through the defence of Bechem United.

Fairly balanced as the second half was, the game ended in a draw with each side picking a point.

AshantiGold, after two games, lead the Premier A table with four points.
