Daniel Laryea: Ghanaian referee listed for Afcon 2019

Ghanaian referee, Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea has been selected by the Confederation of Africa Football (Caf) to officiate in the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.

The 32-year-old – who became the youngest ever referee to officiate in the Ghana Premier League at age 24 in the 2013-14 season – will join 26 other centre referees for a pre-Afcon seminar to be held in Morocco.

The fast-growing centre man – who holds a Fifa badge – has been consistent with regards to his output on the field. His performances have earned him several opportunities in Caf-organized competitions over the past few years.

He was among the referees selected for the Chan tournament in Morocco last year. He also got a spot for the 2017 Africa Under-17 Cup of Nations in Gabon as well as the 2017 Wafu Cup of Nations held in Ghana.

Among the centre referees are Mahmoud Zakria El Banna of Egypt, Bamlak Tessema of Ethiopia, Eric Arnaud Otogo Castane of Gabon, Zambia’s Janny Sikazwe and experienced Gassama Bakary Papa of Gambia.
