#NCSpecial: WAFA reassert home dominance with 3-1 win over Liberty

WAFA SC’s campaign in the Normalization Committee Special Competition kicked off with a dominant 3-1 home win over Liberty Professionals on Sunday.

Both sides were returning to competitive football almost 10 months since a corruption exposé led to the halt of the game in Ghana.

It took coach Sadiq Abubakar’s side 13 minutes to register the opener through Justice Amate in their first game in Zone B of the novelty competition.

The Academy Boys maintained their 1-0 lead at the break.

Just like Amate’s opener, WAFA also doubled the lead in the 13th minute of second half via Kingsford Opoku before debutant Andrews Ntim put the game beyond the visitors with a strike on 78 minutes.

Liberty managed to score a consolation goal five minutes from time through Frederick Ansah Botchway.

The 3-1 opening day victory sends WAFA top of Zone B table.
