Caf CC: Kotoko coach Akonnor cautious of disciplined Hilal

Asante Kotoko coach, CK Akonnor has admitted that he is wary of the threat posed by a “disciplined” Al-Hilal side ahead of their showdown at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The two sides clash on match-day 5 of the 2018/19 Caf Confederation Cup with the Porcupines seeking to claim their fifth home victory in this campaign. Hilal, on the other hand, are in to break such impeccable record.

But Akonnor, speaking at the pre-match conference for the encounter, expressed Kotoko’s readiness to clear the Blue Army’s havoc.

“Hilal is a disciplined side and they have improved in a lot of areas since they changed their coach. We need to be ready for every act and we will be on Sunday mentally and physically,” he stated.

The “Agro-ball” gaffer also highlighted how important the last two group matches are for his side.

“We have two games to go and it’s important that we win them. But we must think of Hilal now before any other game.

“What we have seen from Hilal, it’s obvious that they are solid at the back. It’s a difficult task playing against such teams but we are looking forward to get a good result,” Akonnor noted.

A win for Kotoko will place them top of Group C before the last round of matches. Zambian giants, Zesco United and Nkana FC will also face off in the other encounter on Sunday.
