Asante Kotoko striker, Songne Yacouba has earned a call-up by Burkina Faso coach Paulo Duarte for their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at home to Mauritania.

For the Stallions technical team, the 27-year-old’s excellent displays for the Porcupines in the 2018/19 Caf Confederation Cup means his quality upfront will improve their chances of sealing a ticket to Egypt 2019.

With Mauritania already through to the tourney, the 2013 finalists are battling for a second place with Angola in Group I. The winners and runners-up from all 12 qualification groups qualify for the final tournament in Egypt.

Yacouba becomes the fourth Asante Kotoko player to earn a national team call-up for the 2019 Afcon qualifiers final round of games after Kwame Bonsu, Amos Frimpong and Felix Annan got invited for Ghana’s showdown with Kenya on March 23.

The forward has netted twice and has five assists in his nine appearances for Kotoko in their Caf Confederation Cup campaign. He will however miss the Reds’ last game in Group C against ZESCO United in Ndola.
