Friendlies: Hearts, Kotoko secure wins, Jets suffer two defeats

Ahead of the Ghana FA Normalization Committee’s Special Competition, the top flight and lower division teams intensified their preparations with friendly games over the weekend.

Accra Hearts of Oak were involved in two games. On Saturday morning, the Phobians recorded a narrow 3-2 win over division side Heart of Lions at the Pobiman Park. Christopher Bonney, Anthony Quayson and Kofi Kordzi netted for the Rainbow Boys whilst, Samuel Agbenega and Sule Musah scored for Lions.

The Ghanaian giants then played their second friendly on Sunday at Asante Akyem Agogo. The Phobians trekked to hold Pacific Heroes FC in a 1-1 stalemate. Kojo Obeng Junior got Hearts’ only goal.

AshantiGold secured a 1-0 victory over lower-tier outfit Boafo FC at the Ofori Park. Richard Ella Djodi snatched the game’s only goal through a direct free-kick.

Mighty Jets were also involved in two games over the weekend. They were beaten 2-0 by Dreams FC on Saturday. Experienced forward, Eric Gawu and Damtani Amadu scored the goals for the Still Believe Boys. Then on Sunday, Accra Lions thrashed Jets 3-0 to worsen their weekend.

At the Nana Ameyaw Park in Techiman, Eleven Wonders piped Tank Bofoakwa 1-0.

Asante Kotoko, who are preparing for their Caf Confederation Cup second group game on Wednesday also beat Asokwa Deportivo 1-0 at the Adako Jachie Park. Abdul Fatawu grabbed the only goal of the game.

The Special Competition is scheduled to start February 15.
