Asante Kotoko trainer, CK Akonnor says ZESCO United are likely to provide the toughest challenge so far in his side’s 2018/19 Caf Confederation Cup campaign.
The two-time Africa champions welcome the Zambians for the second group game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium Wednesday afternoon.
ZESCO United managed a 2-0 victory over rivals Nkana FC in the opening group game.
Coach George Lwandamina’s charges are also unbeaten in their last five visits to West Africa in Caf competitions – winning three and drawing two. However, they suffered a 2-0 defeat in the hands of Medeama SC the last time they visited Ghana in 2014.
Speaking ahead of the crucial tie, Akonnor forecasts it would be a stern test for his team but stated that they’ve had adequate preparations and would map up a strategy to neutralize his opponents.
“Well, we’ve prepared adequately for the match. We lost our first game against Al-Hilal and it is important we come back on track.
“We’ve have met an opponent that have balance in terms of defending and attacking. It looks like a bit difficult for us. However, we’ll manage to get to it.
“We also have a strategy to play and that would be shown on the field of play tomorrow [Wednesday]. And, so we’re looking forward to the match believing that we will cone out with a victory,” the Porcupines coach said at pre-match.
Kotoko suffered a 1-0 defeat to Al-Hilal of Sudan in their first group game and will be hoping to pick all three points at home.
The game kicks off at exactly 16:00 GMT
