Normalization Committee postpones Special tourney launch

The Normalization Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has postponed the launch of the much-talked-about ‘Special Competition’ and will soon announce a new date.

The tournament was to be outdoored Monday, 14th January 2019 but misunderstandings between the 16 premier league clubs and the interim body meant the tourney will have to wait.

A statement on the GFA’s official twitter handle read:

“The Ghana Football Association has rescheduled the launch of the GFA Special Competition. A new date for the launch will soon be announced. We sincerely apologize to our media friends and stakeholders for the inconvenience.”

The teams from the top flight raised red flags about the format of the tournament and had asked the Dr.Kofi Amoah-led administration to find a better format that will recognize the clubs as the fore runners of Ghana football.

Sixty-four teams were expected to participate in the tournament made up of Premier and Division One sides.
