Derrick Mensah leaves Dunav Ruse on mutual consent

Ghana’s Derrick Mensah and Bulgarian club Dunav Ruse have mutually agreed to a contract termination.

The Dragons only signed the 23-year-old midfielder mid-August 2018.

Mensah managed just three appearances in the ongoing 2018/19 Bulgaria First League as the side fight themselves in a relegation dogfight after 20 games.

A statement by Dunav Ruse read: “Management thanked Mensah for his professionalism and honest behaviour during his stay at the club and wished him many successes ahead.”

Derrick Mensah began his professional career with Tema Youth (now in the Ghanaian Division One) before joining Tunisia’s Club Africain after excelling at the 2013 Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations.

His journey in Euope has seen him feature for clubs like Banik Ostrava (Czech Republic), Haugesund (Norway), MFK Karvina (Czech Republic) and Slovenian side Aluminij.

While Derrick Mensah takes the exit, compatriot Samuel Inkoom becomes the latest Ghanaian player in the books of Dunav Ruse. He signed a short-term deal with option Tuesday morning.
