Wafu B U-20: “Satellites just unlucky,” says Corbblah after Niger defeat

Despite losing 1-0 to Niger in their 2018 Wafu Zone B Under-20 Championship group opener, Ghana coach Jimmy Corbblah says he is content with the performance of his charges.

A solitary strike in the 46th minute by Amadou Sabo Mahamadou handed the Nigeriens all three points at the expense of the Black Satellites Friday night.

The Satellites fought hard to ensure that they get at least a point but their efforts could not fetch them the equalizer as their opponent held on to the lead to end the game.

Corbblah felt Ghana were just unlucky his assessment of the output of his players on the day.

“I’m not disappointed at all because we brought these young boys to test them to see those that we can select for the U-20 Afcon.

“They played well. They were just unlucky. They created some chances but couldn’t score. So they did well but were just unlucky. The day was not for them so I’m not disappointed at all.”

Ghana will play Nigeria in their final group game Wednesday afternoon.
