U-23 AfconQ: Togo begin preps for Ghana with 27 players

Togo opened camp for preparations towards their clash with Ghana’s Black Meteors in the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifiers Monday morning.

Last week, head coach Jean Paul Abalo Dosseh announced a 27-man squad drawn from first and second tier clubs for the double-header first round tie.

The Togo squad is expected to be pruned down on Wednesday.

Ghana is scheduled to host the first leg on November 17 with the reverse fixture coming off in Lome on the 20th.

The winner of the Ghana-Togo tie will meet Gabon in the second round of the qualifiers scheduled for March 18 to 26, 2019.

Ghana have yet to reveal plans to negotiate the Togo hurdle as the Ghana Football Association Normalization Committee has been unable to officially confirm a coach for the U-23 team, the Black Meteors. There has also been no call-ups with just about 11 days to the first leg encounter, per the dates confirmed by Caf.

Meanwhile, Footy-Ghana.com understands that the Ghana FA and its Togolese counterparts are mooting to seek a rescheduling of their fixture to December.
