U-17 WWC: Ghana coach Adotey eyes gold

Head Coach of Ghana’s female Under-17 side, Evans Adotey is looking to better the team’s 2012 bronze medal feat at the Uruguay 2018 finals.

The Black Maidens will take on hosts Uruguay today, November 13, in one of the opening day fixtures of the 2018 Fifa Under-17Women’s World Cup at 10:00pm.

Having led the Ghana U-17s to a quarterfinal exit at the last World Cup in Jordan where they were edged out of the tournament after a 2-1 defeat to eventual winners, North Korea, coach Adotey has sights on the ultimate this time.

“Our wish is to surpass that the 2012’s achievements, advance from the quarterfinals stage and hopefully make it to the final. As a coach and together with the players, this is our target,” said coach Adotey.

“This is our 6th appearance at the tournament. In 2012, we got to the semifinals and won bronze, we want to do much better this year by winning the tournament,” he retorted.

The Black Maidens will be playing New Zealand and Finland in the other group games at Montevideo.
