Hearts unveil new badge, wordmark

Ghanaian giants Accra Hearts of Oak have unveiled an evolved brand identity that includes a new badge and wordmark.

The club – which marks its 107th anniversary on November 11 – revealed the updated look and feel on Tuesday.

Explaining the need for the image revitalization for the Phobians, the club said “it was Important to modernize the look and feel of the brand in order to keep pace and maintain relevance” as the world and Ghana evolve into the digital age.

“Hearts of Oak is an iconic brand in African football and we took great care to preserve that heritage in the new marks.

“That said, in order to thrive in this new digital era, we needed an identity that was cleaner, more dynamic and a symbol of the Club’s future ambitions,” Chief Executive Officer Mark Noonan said.

Notable departure

A notable absence is the club’s Latin phrase “Virtutem Praestate” while the founding date has been simplified to be represented by the year. But the former is catered for in a ‘secondary badge’ reserved for some corporate procedures.

The club said: The new badge is an evolution of the existing mark paying careful attention to honour the sacred elements of the club’s history including the oak tree, rainbow colours and the founding year of 1911. The secondary badge adds the Latin phrase “Virtutem Praestate”, for select corporate uses.
