Grace Asantewaa: Defeat to Zambia a wake-up call for Queens

Black Queens midfielder, Grace Asantewaa sees Ghana’s 3-2 defeat to Zambia as a wake-up call, urging her teammates to work harder for the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Championship.

Zambia’s Racheal Kundananji propelled her team to come from behind with three second half goals as the Shepololopo snatched victory last Saturday. Portia Boakye and Elizabeth Addo had given Ghana a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Grace Asantewaa, very aware of the competition ahead, has urged her teammates to push hard and make amends with the friendly against Kenya on Wednesday.

“The defeat is a bad one but we have to take it in good faith and prepare for our next clash against Kenya on Wednesday.” she stated.

Ghana arrived in Nairobi on Sunday, ahead of their friendly against Kenya. The team is expected back home on Friday, November 9.

The 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will commence on November 17 and end December 1.

Ghana is drawn in Group A alongside, Mali, Algeria and Cameroon.

Group B is made up of Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Kenya.
