AWCON 2018: Zambia must turn the tables against Nigeria – Mwakapila

Zambia midfielder Mary Nwakapila is after a different result this time against Nigeria when both nations lock horns at the Cape Coast Stadium for the second time in their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations history.

After an outstanding 5-0 mauling of former Champions, Equatorial Guinea in the opening group B game, the 19-year-old Red Arrows FC player believes it’s about time Zambia took something out of a game against Nigeria.

Nigeria secured a 6-0 victory against Zambia the last time out in the 2012 edition.

The Super Falcons were pipped by the South Africa in the opening game of Group B.

Coach Thomas Dennerby’s side need to at least avoid defeat else join the next flight to Lagos, Nigeria.

With that in mind, Mary Nwakapila, despite knowing the potency of the Nigerian attack, is not ready to admit defeat.

“I think Nigeria has a strong strike force looking at the likes of Oshoala and Oparranozie. It will be tough game but we are not ready to give out three points. We really want to turn the tables,” she said.

The game comes off at the Cape Coast Stadium on Wednesday, November 21 at 15:30 GMT.
