Satisfy Club Licensing regulations for Africa – NC tells Kotoko

The Normalization Committee of the Ghana Football Association has directed Asante Kotoko to “satisfy all club licensing regulations” in order to participate in the 2018/19 Caf Confederation Cup as wished.

It had been decided at the consultative meeting on 19th October 2018 that due to the problem confronting Ghana football as a result of the Anas expose, the country was not going to be represented in the 2018/2019 Caf inter-club competitions.

But Kotoko unhappy with the decision, on Monday formally petitioned the Normalization Committee, quoting relevant Caf Statutes, to reexamine the decision and allow them represent Ghana as holders of the last FA Cup following the inability of the country to organize this year’s competition.

A carefully worded response to the Porcupine Warriors’ petition signed by Deputy General Secretary Alex Asante reads:

“The GFA would have wished to take time to move the clubs along during the reform process to ensure that they are well resourced before embarking on any continental championship.

“This notwithstanding, if for any reason your club is of the view that it is capable in all areas to participate in the 2018/1019 Caf Confederation Cup, we will proceed to send your club to Caf as per your request.

“You are therefore required to satisfy all club licensing regulations.”

The Confederation of African Football had given Ghana a special dispensation to submit its representatives for both the Champions League and Confederation Cup by October 29.

Asante Kotoko have exactly a month to prepare and play in the 2018/19 Caf Confederation Cup. The preliminary round kicks off November 27.
