Asante Kotoko are hoping to further strengthen their squad with the signing of Ivorian international Jean Vital Ourega from Karela United.
The Porcupine Warriors officially wrote to the Nzema Aiyinase-based Ghana Premier League debutants about the midfielder on Wednesday, Footy-Ghana.com has confirmed.
“We’ve received a letter on our Ivorian player [Jean Vital Ourega] from Kotoko and will soon respond,” Eric Alagidede, the Business Development and Communications Director for Karela told Footy-Ghana.com.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder was signed by Karela in December 2017. He went on to feature 13 times for Karela in the first round of the truncated 2017/18 Ghana Premier League.
Footy-Ghana.com understands that Ourega, who previously played for Africa Sports and AS Denguele, has offers from foreign clubs which could fetch Karela some six-figure fee ($) in the January transfer window.
It is also understood that Kotoko have targeted having a maximum of five non-Ghanaian players on their books. Currently contracted to the club are Songne Yacouba (Burkina Faso) and Sylla Vie Mohammed (Ivory Coast) while two others – Naby Keita Laye (Guinea) and Hamed Ismael Sawadogo (Burkina Faso) are being observed by the C.K Akonnor-led technical team.
