Misozi Zulu: Zambia skipper ruled out of Women’s Afcon

Zambia’s female senior national team captain Misozi Zulu will not make the trip to Ghana for the 2018 Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations due to injury.

Head coach Bruce Mwape disclosed to the Zambian Women’s Football Committee that the National Assembly FC midfielder has picked up a knock which will deprive her of the opportunity to partake in the nation’s third appearance at the continental showpiece.

Misozi Zulu was part of the Shepolopolo team that played in the 2014 Women’s Championship and featured in all the qualifiers as Zambia snatched a slot for another appearance at the biennial tournament.

Zambia is the only nation among the eight without a win at the Women’s Cup of Nations and will be hoping to better the performance when the tournament kick starts from November 17 – December 1.

Coach Mwape’s side was drawn against Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya in group B.

The Shepolopolo had announced pitching camp in Nigeria for the final phase of their preparations but may be forced to look elsewhere after being pitted against the Super Falcons in Sunday’s draw.
