Kim Grant the new Hearts of Oak gaffer?

Ex-Ghana international Kim Tyrone Grant has emerged the “mystery” technical brain expected to be announced as the new Director of Football and first team head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak.

Chief Executive Officer, Mark Noonan, in an interview with Asempa FM refused to disclose the identity of the incoming gaffer due to his current engagement with another club.

But the Phobians boss claimed a pre-contract has already been signed the coach who he described as “a very, very good football man”

“We do have a new leader in terms of our technical department who will be our Director of Football and first team head coach. The contract is signed and we are working through the person’s notice period before we can announce and have him start…” he stated.

Noonan further described the incoming coach as “someone who understands Ghana, Africa and is also trained outside… someone who understands video analytics, health and nutrition and fitness. He is going to hold our playing body to a really high professional standard…

When is he starting?

The Hearts of Oak chief said: “It is complicated because he is currently employed. He has provided notice to his employers and we have to work through that out of respect. That notice has been done and a contract is signed with us.

“As soon as we can make an announcement, we will do it but we have to respect agreements that have been signed elsewhere before we can move forward. It’s going to be – worst case scenario, in 60 days best case scenario, two weeks…

“This is the most important hire I’m going to make as a Chief Executive… We have taken time to get this person and I’m putting myself on the line on this hire. As Chief Executive, I’m accountable for this hire.

I believe this person is well worth the wait. He is going to be the right leader for our club and I ask all the supporters out there to give him your full support.”

Kim Grant

Some sniffing around by Footy-Ghana.com sources have pointed towards Kim Grant as the new Hearts boss with the portfolio of “Director of Football and first team head coach”, barring any unforeseen development.

The 46-year-old’s recent engagements with Ghanaian clubs – Ebusua Dwarfs and Elmina Sharks (current job) – have seen him occupy the position of a Technical Director.

Grant has been working with Sharks since December 2017.

When contacted, Kim Grant declined to give audience over his association to the Hearts of Oak job.
