Strike: Kotoko secure new kit deal from Portugal

Asante Kotoko will soon announce a new kit supply deal with relatively known sportswear brand – Strike – from Portugal as replacement for Barex, Footy-Ghana.com can confirm.

The Porcupine Warriors, this week, took delivery of two sets of approved designs from the Portuguese company after some initial delays at the Tema Port.

The club, we understand, initially dragged feet last week after they were asked to cough up GH¢5,000 by the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority as tax stamp charge in order to clear the items.

There is scanty information about the track record of Strike but it is confirmed the deal was brokered by Kotoko’s ex-captain Yusif Chibsah.

The new kits’ design – specifically the red first shirt – as seen by Footy-Ghana.com, looks to have been inspired by the 2016 kit make by former providers Mafro (see below).

Club sources indicate plans are in place for an official unveiling with a dedicated store for bulk and retail sales.

Asante Kotoko have been kitted by Barex since February 2017. The club came close to an agreement with American sportswear manufacturers, Under Amor, prior to the start of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League but the deal fell through.
