Kotoko accept Fabin resignation with condition

Asante Kotoko say they have finally accepted coach Paa Kwasi Fabin but with the condition that he honours the clauses in his contract which obliges him to part the club with a sum of GH¢36,000.

Section 12.3 of Fabin’s contract with the club states that: “If the Head Coach terminates this Agreement before the expiry of the term hereby granted or any extension thereof, he shall to the club the sum equivalent to the sums due him for the unexpired period of the contract.”

Fabin rejoined Kotoko for a third spell earlier this year with his GH¢6,000-a-month-salary contract ending the 1st of March 2019.

But on Thursday, the former Ghana U-17 coach tendered his resignation.

Club Chairman Kwame Kyei – who was away then – held a meeting with Coach Fabin to address the situation where the later reiterated his stance.

“Paa Kwasi Fabin has told the Executive Chairman that he cannot continue as head coach of Kotoko.

“Management’s position is that we cannot stop him, but then he must comply with the contract, and we would use every legitimate means to make sure that he does that,” Communications Director Sarfo Duku told the club’s website.

Assistant coach Akakpo Patron takes interim charge of Asante Kotoko and will lead the side to face regional rivals AshantiGold in the second leg of their #GoldenClash friendly on Sunday.
