2019 AfconQ: Black Stars to host Sierra Leone in Kumasi

Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at home to Sierra Leone has been confirmed for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The match will be the Black Stars’ third game in Group F of the qualifiers to Cameroon 2019.

Sierra Leone have confirmed receiving a letter signed by Ghana FA’s Protocol Officer Alex Asante communicating that the fixture is to be played in Kumasi on Thursday October 11, 2018.

SportsAfric is informed that invitations to players for the upcoming tie by Coach Kwasi Appiah are being sent to their respective clubs this week with camp scheduled to open on Sunday October 7.

The Black Stars will be facing the Leone Stars in back-to-back games on the 11th in Kumasi and October 15 in Freetown.

The last time the Black Stars played before the Kumasi fans was in June 2017 when they walloped Ethiopia 5-0 in the opening game of the Afcon qualifiers. Ghana will be hoping for maximum points from the upcoming double header with Sierra Leone after losing their last game away to Kenya.

Meanwhile, Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah is expected to lead his entire backroom to a meeting with the recently instituted Normalization Committee for the Ghana Football Association over a wide range of issues on Thursday September 27.
