West Brom ask for Afriyie Acquah in deal for Gibbs – reports

West Bromwich Albion have reportedly asked for Torino’s Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah in exchange for defender Kieran Gibbs.

The Serie A side’s search for a new left-back landed them at the doorsteps of the English side which suffered relegation from the Premier League last season. Torino want to fill the gap created by the departure of with the former Arsenal star.

But in an interesting twist per reports, West Brom would be willing to let Gibbs go to Torino, provided they received the Ghanaian international in return.

The Baggies are said to be offering Acquah, 26, a contract worth €1m-a-season.

With a season left on his contract, Acquah’s future at Torino has been in doubt. The defensive midfielder has been linked to Serie A returnees Empoli while some reports also claim he has rejected an offer to extend his deal asking the club to return with improved terms.
