VIDEO: I joined Palace to continue improving – Jo Ayew

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew says joining Crystal Palace is a “step up” in his career and is at the club to continue improving under manager Roy Hodgson.

The 26-year-old had a good season at Swansea City last term and scored 11 goals despite his efforts not being enough to keep their Premier League status.

Ayew refused to drop to Championship football and has been granted another Premier League opportunity by the Eagles at Selhurst Park in a loan deal for the 2018/19 season.

Speaking about his move, he said: “I am very pleased to be here. It’s been a long transfer window but finally I got a move. The important thing for me now is to get fit and to be in good shape, and I know the manager wants to use me up front and make things happen.

“The manager, chairman and sporting director all made an effort for me to be here today, so I have to thank them. I am looking forward to playing with the boys and meet the fans, and hopefully it’ll be a good season.

“I chose to come to Palace to continue improving. It’s a step up for me and I’m ready for the challenge and to get to where I think I can get to.”

Two of Ayew’s goals last season were recorded against Crystal Palace in both home and away league encounters for the Swans.

Jordan Ayew will be hoping to make his debut when Crystal Palace open their 2018/19 Premier League campaign away to Fulham on Saturday.
