Finally! Ghana to resume U-20 WWC preps after #Number12

Ghana’s Sports Ministry has revealed that the U-20 women’s team, Black Princesses will resume preparations for next month’s World Cup on Monday, July 9.

The revelation was made in a response to reports that the team had to rent kits for a friendly match in Kumasi over the weekend.

The statement released by the Ministry explained that the Black Princesses had not officially started camping and it was a section of coach Yusif Basigi’s charges that had decided to train ahead of their pre-tournament preparations in Accra.

RE: BLACK PRINCESSES RENT JERSEY TO PLAY FRIENDLY MATCH

Our attention has been drawn to news making rounds on social media with the above headline.

We wish to state unequivocally and place on record that at no point did the Black Princesses honour a friendly in a RENTED JERSEY as purported.

The team will begin an official residential local camping tomorrow Monday 9th July 2018 as part of their preparations for the Womens U-20 World Cup in France next month.

Ahead of the official announcement, some members of the team (Black Princess) mostly based in Kumasi decided to keep in shape ahead of official camping in Accra.

Indeed , after 3 days of continuous training, the group decided to enagage in a warm up match with a select team in Kumasi in kits just purposely for the warm up exercise.

It would be disingenuous on the part of any media person to assume or put as fact that the National team honoured a match in a RENTED JERSEY.

We therefore urge the public to ignore this mischievous piece of information circulating on social media which is deliberately calculated to tarnish the image of our National Team (Black Princesses) and treat it with the contempt it deserves.

Placed in group A, Ghana begin their trophy quest on August 5 against France and then play their Netherlands and New Zealand on August 8 and August 12 respectively.
