Court grants injunction on Ghana FA, names official liquidator

The Accra High Court has appointed the Registrar of Companies, Jemima Oware, as the official liquidator of the Ghana Football Association.

Deputy Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame representing government and the GFA, led by Nana Benyin Eyison and lawyer Thaddeus Sory, were at the Commercial Division of the court Thursday morning after the latter finally responded to the suit, seeking to injunct it and cause its disbandment.

From the ruling by the High Court presided over by Justice Samuel Asiedu, the Registrar will effectively take custody of all assets belonging to the GFA and ensure that all its assets are not disposed of until the substantive liquidation case at the court is determined.

The court has also placed an injunction on all officials of the football governing body from performing their official duties.

The government’s decision to dissolve the GFA were urged by the corrupt activities of the football governing body’s officials in an undercover investigative piece by renowned journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
