Newcastle linked with move for Jordan Ayew

Swansea could face a battle to keep hold of Jordan Ayew, with Newcastle the latest club linked with his signature.

The Ghanaian striker scored 11 Premier League goals and was one of the Swans’ top performers as they were eventually relegated from the topflight this past season.

Ayew arrived at the Liberty Stadium for £5m in January 2017 and is attracting interest that could keep him in the Premier League.

Last week, newly-promoted Fulham were linked with an £8m bid for him which was rejected and now the Magpies have reportedly entered the race for his signature.

A number of sources are suggesting a fee of around £13m could be enough to tempt the Welsh club to sell, especially with the 26-year-old keen on remaining in the top flight.

Newcastle are known to be in the market for a forward due to doubts over Aleksandr Mitrovic’s future, while Dwight Gayle has also been linked with a move away.

Ayew’s versatility, with him also capable of playing out wide, could tempt the Tynesiders to see their interest through.
