Liberty coach questions Kotoko on Tuffour Frimpong quality

Liberty Professionals coach Reginald Asante says Edwin Tuffour Frimpong’s quality was not used effectively during his stint with Asante Kotoko.

Tuffour joined the Reds in 2016 from Liberty Professionals after agreeing a three-year deal that ends next season. The left-footed player failed to replicate the delightful performance that defined his transfer and has returned to the Dansoman-based side.

And Reginald asserts that the defender was misused at the Porcupines.

“Unfortunately, Kotoko didn’t know how to use Edwin because they played him as a left back player. He is a center back, we will never use him there” Asante told reporters.

“He is very comfortable here; he has been here for a while. We nurtured him very well and he is used to the Liberty philosophy. Though he started at Deportivo, it was we who gave him topflight experience in the Premier League,”

Tuffour started for the Scientific Soccer Lads, scoring the side’s only goal in a 1-1 draw against Kotoko on matchday 14. Placing 11th on the league log, Liberty will play away to Elmina Sharks on matchday 15; Frimpong will be key at centre back.
