Ghana vs Iceland: Afriyie Acquah rejoins Ghana squad, no Wakaso yet

Afriyie Acquah has rejoined Ghana’s Black Stars camp ahead of their international friendly against Iceland.

The Torino midfielder failed to travel with the team alongside teammate Mubarak Wakaso when they left Accra on Saturday, May 26 for their first friendly against Japan.

It later emerged that the two players refused to travel due to grievances over a slash in their friendly match appearance fee from $5,000 to $2,000.

Acquah however made a U-turn 48 hours later but failed to catch a flight in time to feature in the 2-0 win over Japan in Yokohama last Thursday.

Footy-Ghana.com can confirm that the 26-year-old has now been able to join the rest of the team already in Iceland BUT Wakaso is yet to arrive contrary to widespread reports. Sources suggest the Deportivo Alaves star may not make his way for the game.

Iceland, who are preparing to participate in the 2018 Fifa World Cup, will host Ghana at the 15,000 capacity Laugardalsvöllur Stadium in Reykjavik.

Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah now has a squad of 18 players for Thursday’s game:
