Dwarfs battle back to hold Dreams FC

Dreams FC were left frustrated after taking an early lead which looked enough to propel them to beat Ebusua Dwarfs but the visitors pulled back and secured a draw in their last game of the 2017/18 ZylofonCash Premier League first round.

Skipper Leonard Owusu fired the Still Believe boys into the lead on 10 minutes at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium Saturday.

Owusu was picked out by an incisive pass from Samuel Alarbi. He took a perfect run to beat the offside trap and dribbled the Dwarfs goalkeeper before planting the ball into the back of the net with a delightful placement.

But, after going down, Dwarfs began to get back in the game and pinned their hosts to the back.

Dwarfs had to be denied a number of times by goalkeeper Isaac Amoako until the 42nd minute when he was unable to find an antidote to another header by the impressive Michael Adamoah.

A corner kick from the right, this time, was met by Adamoah into the crossbar but Alarbi’s attempt to head out rather aided the ball to cross the line. Amoako was late with his reaction. 1-1 the half ended.

Dwarfs were on the up and sharper from recess but were often let down by returnee striker Bright Lukman whose final shots were always feeble.

An eventful last minute of additional time saw Benjamin Ayim denied by the die post. Kwadwo Asamoah did some brilliant hold up play before the ball found Ayim who hit a low grounder from the left but his effort agonizingly went against the upright. Dwarfs then broke loose on a counter but Hussein Zakaria failed to make a huge chance count as he scuffed a shot straight into the hands of Isaac Amoako.

The 1-1 draw sees Dreams FC, who have played all their fifteen games, finish the first half of the season with 24 points. Dwarfs, with a game in hand are on now on 14 points.

Ebusua Dwarfs’ new boy Vincent Bekoe was named Man-of-the-Match.
