U-20 AfconQ: Black Satellites squad for Algeria first leg

Black Satellites coach Jimmy Cobblah has named a final 18-man squad for Ghana’s trip to Algeria in the 2019 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Greens are scheduled to host Ghana the first leg of the penultimate qualifying round to Niger 2019 on Friday May 11.

And Satellites boss Cobblah has settled on a squad which includes four foreign-based players – Abdul Halik Hudu (Hammarby IF), Ibrahim Tanko (Red Star Belgrade), Saliw Babawo (Dynamo Brest) and Abdul Manaf Nurudeen (Kas Eupen) with the nucleus made up of budding talents from the various divisions in the domestic scene.

Right to Dream Academy trio, Mohammed Kudu, Gideon Mensah and Sadiq Ibrahim as well as Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad, Sulley Ibrahim and Richard Danso make up a list of six players who have been graduated from the 2017 Ghana Under-17 World Cup team.

The Black Satellites contingent will fly out of Accra for Algiers in the early hours of Wednesday.

Friday’s match will be played at Stade 5 Juillet 1962.

The second leg is fixed for May 20 at Cape Coast Stadium.

The aggregate winner of the Ghana-Algeria tie advances to the final lap of the qualifiers to face either Gambia or Benin. The first leg games have been fixed to come of between 13, 14 and 15 of July while the second leg games will be played between 20, 21, and 22 of July this year.
