Obed Nketiah: Berekum Chelsea CEO gets two-match ban

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Berekum Chelsea, Obed Nana Nketiah, has been handed a two-match ban by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana FA.

The bank-roller of the Golden City Park outfit is facing the punishment as a result of a misconduct charge against him from his side’s matchday two home fixture against Dreams FC.

Nana Nketiah was charged for threatening centre referee Nuhu Liman during recess of the match “that if your team [Berekum Chelsea] does not win the match by the close of the day, the referee will see worse things happening to him than what he saw in the match between Arsenals FC and Liberty Professionals FC last season.”

This conduct has been deemed by the DC to be in breach of “Article 35(1b), 35(7) of the GFA General Regulations and Article 56 and 58 of the GFA Disciplinary Code.”

In addition to his two-match ban, the Berekum Chelsea CEO has also been warned “to be of good behavior.”

The Berekum Chelsea vs Dreams FC finished in a stalemate and the threat by the host team’s Chief seems to have manifested as referee Liman ended up getting assaulted by home fans. The club was subsequently handed a three-match home ban which they recently completed serving.
